A bare corner on a Monday. A classroom by the following Wednesday

Push Forward Primary School found us the way most schools do — a Google search for a better way to use their outdoor space. They had a quiet corner of the school grounds doing nothing, a long list of things they wanted to give room to, and they wanted full peace of mind: an ever-changing outdoor space, looked after for them, with no capital project — no procurement marathon, no “let’s revisit it next academic year.”

Eight working days later, their children stepped into a finished Nordic tipi classroom.

That timeline is not a sprint we put on for show — it is what the managed model is designed to do. We measured the site, handled every part of the installation, and walked the school through the safety and compliance framework that comes built into every agreement. The school took on none of the operational load. They simply gained the space — and the children who use it gained the outdoors.

One classroom, holding all of it

The space won’t sit still. Push Forward is an independent specialist SEND school, and their outdoor classroom holds the things that are hardest to give room to indoors: one-to-one sessions, a sensory zone, a calm space for the children who need one, group reading, and art. One space, doing the work of many — and because the agreement is fully managed, we keep it inspection-ready, weather-managed and seasonally maintained while the school just teaches in it.

Dressed in their colours

This September the canopy is dressed in Push Forward’s own rainbow colours, radiating from the crown above the school’s banner and ours. The children walked into a classroom that instantly, unmistakably belonged to them — and nobody at the school lifted a ladder to make it happen. Our crew arrived, re-dressed the space, and handed it back ready to teach in.

It’s the part of the managed model that’s easiest to underestimate. An outdoor classroom shouldn’t be a beige tent in the corner of the field — it should look like it belongs to the school it stands in, and it should keep changing through the year. At Push Forward it does, because seasonal transformations are built into the service, not sold as an extra.

Every Beehive classroom gets this treatment: dressed for the setting it belongs to, refreshed through the seasons, photographed and filmed at every stage — imagery the school is free to use in its own newsletters, admissions materials and social media.

What eight working days actually proves

Outdoor learning has never been short of evidence — it has been short of a way to make it happen quickly, without piling more onto an already-stretched team. A traditional outdoor classroom build means capital budgets, contractors on site for weeks, and a structure the school then owns, maintains and insures alone.

The managed model removes all of it. We measure it, install it, weather it and maintain it. We hold the compliance framework, the insurance, and the safety inspections. The space is ready from day one, with no capital outlay — and the eight-working-day install is what it looks like when the friction is taken out.

If there’s a corner of your grounds doing nothing, that’s a conversation worth having. See how the managed model works, what an outdoor classroom actually costs, or the full range of tipi classrooms.
