Outdoor Classrooms in the North West

Children gathered outside a Beehive Cirrus 40 outdoor classroom in the North West

Beehive Tipis serves nurseries, schools and SEND settings across the entire United Kingdom. Wherever you are, the same fully managed model applies — installed, certified, insured, maintained, and seasonally transformed for you.

The North West is our home. We work with nurseries and pre-schools, independent and preparatory schools, state schools, SEND and alternative provision, and forest schools across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cumbria. We know the schools, we know the weather, and we know the ground — from Wirral primaries to Cumbrian fells, from a Manchester city-centre nursery to a village school on the edge of the Forest of Bowland.

If you're outside the North West, we deliver nationwide. Request a brochure and we'll come to you.

Counties and regions we cover in the North West

The North West is a region of contrasts — dense urban areas, coastal towns, rolling Cheshire farmland and the lakes and fells of Cumbria. The managed model is built to handle all of it. Below is a snapshot of where we work across each county.

Greater Manchester

Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Stockport, Rochdale, Wigan, Bury, Oldham, Tameside and Trafford. Inner-city primaries and outer-borough nurseries — including settings with very limited outdoor space, where the tipi solves problems a permanent extension can't.

Cheshire

Chester, Crewe, Macclesfield, Warrington and the rural villages between. Independent prep schools, state primaries and SEND settings across the county. See our Cheshire page →

Lancashire

Preston, Blackpool, Lancaster, Burnley, Blackburn, Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley. We're based here — and the Ribble Valley, Forest of Bowland and West Lancashire countryside is the backdrop to a lot of our thinking on what an outdoor classroom should feel like.

Merseyside

Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley and St Helens. Settings on the Mersey, in the Wirral peninsula and across the city — from inner-city EYFS classes to peninsula prep schools.

Cumbria

Carlisle, Kendal, Penrith, Barrow-in-Furness, Workington, Ulverston and Whitehaven. The Lakes, the coast and the rural west. The all-weather build matters even more here than further south — winters are real, and the tipi handles them.

The fully managed model means installation, monthly maintenance and four seasonal transformations a year are all coordinated regardless of which corner of the region you're in. There is no extra travel charge for being further from our base — the service is the same in Carlisle as it is in Crewe.

Why the North West suits the Beehive model

North West weather is exactly the case for a permanent, all-weather outdoor classroom. Wet autumns, long winters, the Atlantic depressions that roll across the Irish Sea — schools in this region routinely lose outdoor learning days to rain that schools in the South East would simply work through. A timber tipi with sealed roof, all-weather flooring and proper ventilation removes that constraint.

Just as importantly, our team is on site every month, in person — not at the end of an email. The whole structure is taken care of year-round, on our schedule, and we're on call at short notice for anything you need. The school never has to think about it.

What the managed service includes

Settings we work with

Nurseries and pre-schools. EYFS practitioners get a permanent, weather-proof "outside" — somewhere children can be on a Tuesday morning in February as easily as a Wednesday in July. See our nurseries page →

Independent and prep schools. A signature outdoor space that reads beautifully against the personal development and character-formation strands ISI inspectors look for, without the headache of capital approvals. See our prep schools page →

State schools. The managed model means no PFI-style capital outlay and no procurement process of the kind a permanent build would require. An operational expense, not a capital one. See our state schools page →

SEND and alternative provision. A regulated, predictable, sensory-considered space outside the classroom — for children for whom four walls are sometimes the issue. See our SEND page →

Forest schools. A permanent, all-weather basecamp for forest school sessions — somewhere to gather, eat, regroup and warm up. See our forest school shelters page →

Outside the North West? We deliver nationwide

The North West is our home, but Beehive serves the whole of mainland Great Britain. From Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands, from coastal Wales to the East of England, the same managed model applies and the same team will come to you. There's no postcode that takes us out of scope.
